About

In the Pueblo (Old Town) of Jávea.

Welcome to my blog. It’s primarily about my observations on my recent move from Washington, DC to Jávea, Spain, a transition that took me from one of the most visible cities in the world to a low-key, Mediterranean beach town in the Costa Blanca.

I’ve always preferred traveling slightly off the beaten path so I thought I’d try living that way. It’s been an adjustment and there are a lot of contrasts to my old life, some small, others more profound. But mostly it’s made me even more aware, that no matter where we hail from in this big, beautiful world of ours, our similarities are always greater than our differences.

If you are thinking about moving to Spain, I’m happy to give my honest two cents on how I find life here. (Short answer: mostly wonderful!) Like some folks I’ve talked to, maybe you’ve already started the process. If so, good for you! Especially if you are coming from the U.S., I can offer practical tips and suggestions, from visa and immigration to health insurance to ordering a shipping container, a lot of which I wish I had known in advance.

If you have any feedback or suggestions, or there’s a topic you think I should cover, drop me a line. I’d love to hear from you. You can also find out more about my professional background here.

Paz.
